报告简介The only existing spaceborne hyperspectral mission is HYPERION which has very limited areal coverage and serious noise with some spectral bands. In the next decades, more spaceborne hyperspectral missions with global coverage will be launched. Except the plan of a French mission HYPXIM which targets a spatial resolution of 8m (with no specified launching date), most of these missions will target a spatial resolution of 30m. However, recently developed image fusion and superresolution approaches have pushed a novel paradigm - 10m HS data . If a 10m HS data with a global coverage will materialize as a standard product, it could bring along a fundamental shift in remote sensing based research in terms of new applications and handling algorithms. This report will briefly introduce the latest development, and discuss future perspectives and challenges of high resolution spaceborne hyperspectral remote sensing.

报告人简介:Jonathan Cheung Wai Chan博士先后获得香港中文大学学士和硕士学位,1999年获得香港大学城市规划和环境管理中心的博士学位。从1998年到2001年,Chan在美国马里兰大学地理系担任研究助理,从2001年到2005年,Chan加入比利时布鲁塞尔自由大学电子与信息系,从2005年开始在布鲁塞尔自由大学地理系任教。Chan是2012年和2013年IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium (IGARSS) 技术委员会的成员,在2011年和2012年的IGARSS大会上担任高光谱图像超分辨分析和亚像素分类Special session的分会主席。Chan博士的研究领域包括机器学习、高光谱图像处理、地物分类、高光谱图像超分辨率分析、纹理分类、变化检测和环境遥感等邻域。
